Building Blocks

The building blocks with which a data exchange standard may be created for a given business context. These building blocks describe

1. when information flows across data interchange points,

2. how those interchange points are described,

3. who or what those interchange points represent (roles  capability, capacity, competency),

4. how the information is bound to data flows,

5. interdependencies between separate data flows,

6. other aspects of control flow that ensure that data is flowing properly over the course of the interaction and in such a way as to support the business function after which the service specification is derived.
