First Roman should be sedated with a neuroleptic combination to induce sedation and analgesia. We would like to perform a thorough orthopedic examination paying special attention to the results of the cranial drawer test in the left stifle and trying to localize the creptice. Following the exam and still under heavy sedation we would like to take radiographs to assess possible fractures, dislocations, or malformations. Lateral radiographs of both hind limbs, a full hip shot in the VD view, and spinal radiographs are indicated. Another routine diagnostic test that should performed is a CBC and chemistry panel with electrolytes to evaluate any subclinical or masked disease (i.e. peritonitis due to ruptured bladder or gastrointestinal tract, hemorrhage and subsequent hemodilution) that may also need treatment. A clotting profile should also be performed to evaluate the patients ability to undergo surgery if indicated. The placement of a urinary catheter would also help detect possible urinary tract trauma associated with vehicular injury or the onset of acute renal failure due to decreased perfusion from shock. Additionally, since this is a rather large Doberman, who is unable to walk, the placement of a urinary catheter would be a helpful management tool by decreasing the need to take him outside and keep him from laying in pools of urine. The traumatic nature of this injury also indicates abdominal and thoracic radiographs to look for possible bladder rupture, pneumothorax or other blunt trauma injuries not already evident on physical exam. Suspicious signs can be further investigated with contrast radiographs. We would also like to perform an EKG to look for signs of heart irregularities, such as myocarditis, sometimes caused by vehicular trauma. A complete neurological exam should also be performed to evaluate possible spinal damage. n o & } n o / =!"#$% [4@4NormalCJOJPJQJmH <A@<Default Paragraph Font xwCO9D Math Emporium?Macintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:4Plan of Action_14 Math EmporiumLMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:AutoRecovery save of 4Plan of A@|&5P@GTimes New Roman5Symbol3 Arial3Times"qh:SFfSF%!0dPlan of Action: Math Emporium Math Emporium Oh+'0l ( 4 @LT\d'Plan of Action:lanMath Emporium:athNormalpMath Emporium:3thMicrosoft Word 8.0d@9+@Ŷ@t˶ ՜.+,0 hp 'Virginia Techi Plan of Action: Title !"#&Root Entry F?(1Table WordDocumentSummaryInformation(DocumentSummaryInformation8CompObjX FMicrosoft Word DocumentNB6WWord.Document.8
