Signalment and History:

17 month old intact male Doberman
Indoor/Outdoor dog
Eats 4 cups of Big Red dog food each day

It is important to understand the signalment and general history of the dog to understand the diagnosis and treatment plan.

Chief Complaint:

Hit by car three days ago
Non weight bearing on hind legs

Physical Exam Findings:

Instability of right tibia
Swollen leg distal to right hind stifle
Tibia is not continuous
Upper left hind leg severely swollen
Bone continuity of left femur is suspect
No spine distortion or pain
Motor function is present
Skin abrasions on right lateral leg
Fluid accumulation on left leg to the toes
Crepitation in upper left leg
Bone and joints of lower left leg are normal

These findings lead us to a traumatic etiology and localization of injuries.
