PLAN OF ACTION: Evaluate urine output and assess patency of bladder and ureters (via radiographs or ultrasound) - place catheter if necessary to monitor output. Attach an EKG - to assess cardiac damage and possible extra-cardiac slow v-tach Radiographs of: Lat and VD thoracic radiographs - check for diaphragmatic hernia;fluid in abdomen, injury to internal organs; profile of heart (abnormal or not) Lat and VD of hips and hind legs - to assess fracture and soft tissue trauma Check right leg for tibial fracture and what type of fracture (compression, non-union, degree of fragmentation) left leg for - femur, pelvic (ilium, pubis, ischium) fractures, femoral head luxations If abdominal fluid present on radiographs perform Abdominocentesis - check type of fluid in abdomen Complete CBC/chem profile - look for anemia and other electrolyte abnormalities
