The IHMC Cmap Tools allow any number of users, who may be geographically separated, to collaborate in real time when building and editing concept maps. All changes are tracked and shown immediately to all participants. 

To maintain a coherent group dynamics, it is necessary to have also have a parallel real-time communication channel, usually by voice.

The cmap tools also support a number of features designed to facilitate ongoing group collaboration, including the attachment of discussion trails to concept nodes.
