Your foal has had several intra-articular injections of gentamicin.  Keep an eye on the 
fetlock for increased swelling, heat, or pain.  Please let us know if this occurs and if any 
other joints start show similar signs.  We recommend stall rest to allow healing to his soft 
tissues and cartilage, with brief intervals of controlled exercise.  We have prescribed 
phenylbutazone and enrofloxacin for you to administer at home.  Please give drugs as 
directed on the prescription.  After the infection clears cosequin may be considered to 
help with the resynthesis of joint cartilage.
