What is the normal weight range for the pomeranian ?

Normal range for an adult pomeranian is from 3-8 lb.


What is medial buttressing of the stifle joint?

Medial buttressing refers to the thickening of the joint capsule.  This is due to instability 
of the joint; the body attempts to stabilize the joint by increasing the thickness of the 
capsule.

Should the patella be able to be luxated medially?

In a normal joint, the patella is held in the femoral trochlea by the patellar tendon and 
femoral ridges.  The patella should not be able to luxated from its normal position.

What types of disease are pomeranians predisposed to.

Pomeranians, like other toy and miniature dogs, are predisposed to congenital patellar 
luxation.  Clinical signs may develop soon after birth, generally after four months of age.
Sudden signs of lameness may occur due to minor trauma or DJD in more mature 
animals.

What is normal stifle anatomy?

In a normal joint, the patella is held in the femoral trochlea by the patellar tendon and 
femoral ridges.  The patella should not be able to luxated from its normal position. The 
femur and tibia are connected by the cranial and caudal cruciate ligaments.  The two 
bones are stablized by the medial and lateral collateral ligaments.
