Plan of Action

Confine mare and foal to stall 24 hours a day and use a pressure bandage on 
fetlock joint

Minimum data base Ð CBC, Serum chemistry, urinalysis - to rule out infectious or 
concurrent problems
Radiographs Ð to rule out trauma and bone related congenital deformities
Arthrocentesis Ð rule out infection
Ultrasound Ð rule out ligament or tendon deformities
MRI Ð to further evaluate fracture possibilities and soft tissue swelling
