The radiographs of this patient demonstrate clinically significant findings. There appears to be bilateral subluxation of the femoral heads, each with a relatively shallow acetabulum. The cranial acetabular margins appear rounded, with otesophyte proliferation around the cranial acetabular edge. There is also osteophyte production on the caudal edge of the right femoral head. Each femoral head has apparent flattening with loss of the normal gentle rounding of the capitus. These changes represent significant remodeling of the femoral head and acetabulum. The sedated orthopedic examination revealed a bilateral positive Ortalani sign, which is indicative of joint laxity. Range of motion for each hip was approximately 130 degrees. The cranial drawer was negative bilaterally, demonstrating integrity of cruciate ligaments.
