Marasmus: Weight loss- seen in these pt. because of muscle wasting, lack of eating, and lack of absorption TSF 5mm- indicative of loss of subcutaneous fat UAMA 38cm- indicative of muscle wasting High glucose- due to gluconeogenisis causing an increase in glucose in the blood which will cause also high insulin. Glucagon will also be high which will trigger norepinephrine, catecholamines, and adrenilin to be elevated as well.
