Explanation of the Facts

_ Large Frame- This was pertinent because we used the frame to determine some of the
anthropometrics for the patient.
_ HTN- Hypertension is pertinent because it relates to the current diet order, how we are
going to treat the pt. Also, for this patient, the HTN is related to the clogged arteries.
_ 95 kg UBW- This is a pertinent fact because we used it to determine if the patient is
losing weight or wastingÉin this case, he is not. We also used this for our
calculations for BEE.
_ Admin. Wt 96 kg- This is pertinent because we used it to determine % IBW [(actual
body wt/ ideal body weight) x 100].
_ 84.5 kg IBW- this is pertinent because it was used to calculate the %IBW.
_ We found that his weight was between the 75th and 85th percentile and this was
pertinent because we know now that he is above the 50th percentile. This lets us know
that his wt has not depleted to an abnormal level.
_ UAMA is a pertinent fact because we found that the pt is b/w the 50th and 75th percentile
and this means that he does not have decreased or depleted muscles stores.
_ TSF and UAFA are pertinent because we found that he falls between the 50th and 75th
percentile for both and his fat stores were not depleted.
_ 112% IBW is pertinent because it shows that he is slightly over the ideal body weight
and that he has normal anthropometrics.
_ TLC is pertinent because it shows that the visceral protein stores are moderately
depleted. The calculation is: (WBC x %lymphocytes) / 100 = 1155.
_ The CBC calculation is used to calculated the TLC
_ BEE: 66.5 + (13.8 x 95kg) + (5.0 x 187.96) Ð (6.8 x 57) = 1929.7 kcal
_ REE used to determine ratio.
_ REE/BEE Ratio (+ or -) 10% = 2250/1930 = 1.17. This leads us to believe he is in a
hyper-metabolic stress state.
_ I/O records are pertinent because this helps us to determine how much the patient is
consuming and how much of it is being retained. (still being researched at this point)

The rest are still being researchedÉwe have researched and discussed and found that we
do not have a complete understanding so will try to find out more information _
